ABOUT THE FESTIVAL

Pubs have, for centuries, born ideas good - and bad! And it was over a pint when someone said "wouldn't it be nice to have Christmas lights up in Mapplewell?"

"Yes, it would" came the reply. But it was known that there would be fundraising required - and a substantial amount at that... so how?

And so Mapplewell's Beer Festival was born.

The inaugural event was held across a marvellous May weekend in 2019.

​

Together with sponsorship and our wonderful punters who support us so generously we have grown each year.

the money raised  from previous festivals now enables us to  provide and install over  30 lamppost motifs, 2 banners  and this year for the first time a 5m high metal tree with coloured lights (each year we will look to upgrade).

It was unanimously agreed to make it an annual event  and we are pleased to announce not only have we raised the money for the 2025 Christmas lights but also supported many causes within the mapplewell and Staincross community.
